SGEI Privacy Statement

A. Collection of Data

  • SGEI may collect the following data about you either directly from you, from your authorised representatives (i.e. persons who you have authorised and persons who have been validly identified as being you or your authorised representative), from third parties, or from publicly available sources:
    • Personal information (such as your full name, NRIC, telephone numbers, address);
    • Records from discussions or correspondences, including details obtained through customer satisfaction or other surveys;
    • Details of your usage of SGEI services;
    • Information derived from cookies where you visit any website or use any application created by or on behalf of SGEI.
    • Information you provide to any SGEI in relation to the provision of any of SGEI’s services.
  • We may also collect technical data such as IP address, device information, browser type and usage data when you interact with our digital platforms.
  • B. Use and Disclosure of Personal Data Collected

  • You agree that SGEI may use your personal data where permitted by applicable law and for the following purposes:
    • To provide, operate and improve SGEI services.
    • To compile information for analysis and in reports to our regulatory agencies, where required.
    • To conduct surveys, obtain feedback, provide you with information, products or services from SGEI or third parties, where you have provided your consent or where otherwise permitted by law.
    • To carry out your instructions or respond to enquiries.
    • To comply with any legal or regulatory requirements or obligations or applicable industry codes.
    • For internal administration and management of the services being provided to you.
    • To maintain the security of our premises and systems.
    • For training, quality assurance and administrative purposes.
    • To carry out analytics, research, planning and statistical analysis
    • To develop and enhance new services and products.
    • Fulfilling SGEI's legal, contractual or regulatory obligations, including complying with any applicable laws, regulations, rules, codes of practice or guidelines or to assist in law enforcement and investigations by relevant authorities; conducting audits, reviews and analysis of our internal processes;
    • For recruitment purposes if you apply for a job with us;
    • Any other purposes for which you have provided the information; and/or
    • For any other purposes related to the above.
  • In addition, you agree that SGEI may disclose your personal data where permitted by applicable law and for the following purposes:
    • Where required by law, regulation or legal process, or where necessary to enforce contractual rights or protect the rights, property, safety or security of SGEI, our customers or others, including for fraud precention and credit risk management.
    • To persons who have been validly identified as being you or your authorised representative(s) for purposes related to the relevant transaction or enquiry.
    • To authorised proxies such as your Member of Parliament or a social welfare organisation representing you, where applicable.
    • To third parties (including service providers, agents and contractors) engaged by SGEI to perform functions or provide services on our behalf, provided that such parties are required to protect your personal data and use it only for the purposes for which it was disclosed. Such third parties may include IT service providers, professional advisers, auditors and regulatory authorities.
  • C. Storage of Data, Information Security and Transfers

  • The data we collect from you may be transferred to, processed and stored in jurisdictions outside Singapore. SGEI will take reasonable steps to ensure that any such transfers comply with applicable data protection laws and that your personal data continues to receive a standard of protection comparable to that under Singapore law
  • SGEI will make reasonable security arrangements to prevent unauthorised access, collection, use, disclosure, copying, modification, disposal or similar risks to your personal data. While SGEI will take reasonable steps to safeguard your data, SGEI is not responsible for any unauthorised use or misuse of such information and damage arising from risks which are inherent in all internet communications.
